As we mentioned above there are things in your home that you already use on a regular basis such as vinegar, lemon juice, detergent and cold water that will remove those stains quite effectively.  Its simply a matter of knowing which products to use on a particular stain.  We’ll share some simple techniques you can use to help remove those stubborn stains and keep your carpet looking good.

Pet Stain Removal

Mix one teaspoon of ammonia to a half cup of cold water.  Take the solution and either spray it on the soiled area or simply dip a cloth in the solution and apply it on the carpet directly.  Do not rub the area, blot gently.  It’s important not to drench the carpet whereby the solution gets in the under padding.  Make sure you completely dry the area after treatment with paper towels.  One problem with using an ammonia based solution is that if smells a lot like pet urine and may drawn your pet back to the spot to soil it again.

Another choice is to try an all natural solution.  A bio chemical product will break down the bacteria that resides in the urine.  Once the urine is broken down it decomposes which completely eliminates the odor and the stain.  Another plus is these products are quite safe for the environment.

Ink Stain Removal

Pour regular rubbing alcohol on to a cloth and blot the stain until the ink is gone.  Be careful to blot from the outside in so you don’t spread the stain.  You can also try applying a small amount of milk to the soiled area and using a toothbrush to gently scrub it.

Beer and Wine Stain Removal

Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water.  Saturate the soiled are by using a spray bottle with the solution in it and let it sit for about ten minutes.  Use a clean sponge and gently rub.  Finish by rinsing with warm soapy water and blot dry with heavy folded paper towels.  Place a blow fan next to treated area until dry.

Do the best you can to minimize the damage and schedule an appointment with a Dallas carpet specialist as soon as possible if all else fails.
