Glass Candle Holders By The Dozen

*This is a guest post.

How many glass candle holders do you have? Have any for pillar candles? What about glass votive candle holders?

From where I am sitting now, I can see two glass candle holders for tea light candles and three glass taper candle holders. There were more yesterday, but I moved three glass votive candle holders and two other glass tea light candle holders out of sight to prepare for the fall decorations. The five I can see is actually a low count for me.

You see, I love glass. I love the way it can be formed into any number of useful and useless items. I have, on display as I write this, four artist blown glass ball ornaments, a glass pumpkin, glass vases, glass decanters, a glass pitcher, glass drinking glasses of various sizes and shapes, a class cross, Venetian glass paperweights, and two empty wine bottles with glass beads around them. Lots of glass, and there is more in the other room.

But, back to glass candle holders. Glass makes an especially good tea light or votive candle holder because the light from the candle can show the patterns and colors of the candle holder better than almost any way to display glass. Glass backed by a window is usually pretty stunning, but the glass candle holders show up well at night and anywhere in the room when the candle inside is lit.

Glass taper candle holders hold the light above the candle holder, and so they are not as spectacular as those candle holders where the candle is down inside. This also applies to most pillar candle holders, although there are wide bowls in which a pillar candle could be burnt, eventually getting below the rim to show the glass lit from within.

Why the title “dozen”? Because I can think of at least two dozen other glass candle holders in my household inventory, and there are undoubtedly more that escape my memory just now. Why all the candle holders, if there are not being used? Because they are glass and beautiful colors. Remember, I told you I love glass.
