Because of the drop in value of homes across the country more people are optioning to remain in their homes and do some home remodeling instead.  Remodeling can be fun imagining what the home would look like after you’ve finished enlarging that bathroom or laying new ceramic tile in the kitchen.

Not only can it be fun but it can actually payoff in the long run if you ever decide that you want to sell.  You also get to remain in the same neighborhood and your kids get to attend the same schools.  Below I’ve listed three additional reasons why you should remodel your home.

New Appliances

There’s nothing like new appliances.  Think about putting in all stainless steel appliances to include a new refrigerator and a convection oven.  Hang new Hunter ceiling fans through out your home.  Replace all high touch items in the house such as kitchen and bathroom faucets.  Remove shower doors and and turn them into frameless showers.  Buy a few BluRay flatscreen TVs and have them mounted on the wall including surround sound.  These updates will provide your family with more comfort and joy for many years to come.

Increase Your Home Value And Marketability

The best looking house on the block is the most marketable and commands the highest price all other things being equal.  Doing a small bathroom remodel or a mid-range kitchen remodel goes along way wooing potential buyers.  When your home is up to par there’s no need to negotiate on price or continuously apologize for your transgressions of having an outdated home.  You don’t have to outrun everybody, you only have to outrun the people in your subdivision.  This means you don’t have to go overboard just make sure you take of the things that matter most to people which usually are landscaping, bathroom and kitchen.

Energy efficient Home

You can change out your home with all energy efficient appliances which will help lower your energy bill.  You may even want to install a solar panel system on your roof and generate your own electricity.  Energy efficient lighting, windows and doors will definitely help lower your monthly bills.

Go easy and just attack one room at a time.  Make the project fun and enjoyable and remember to envision the finished product so you won’t give up too easily.
